The Consular Department of the Embassy is responsible for Consular Services in Iran, such as issuance of Dutch passports and emergency travel documents, issuance of visas, legalisation of documents and, if needed, provision of assistance to Dutch citizens in emergency cases.

Window hours for renewel Dutch passports: Sunday to Thursday, 09:30am -11:00am hrs. Other Dutch Citizen Services: Sunday to Wednesday, 07:30 - 04.pm hrs. Thursday 07:30am - 01:30 pm hrs. 
Only in case of an emergency outside office hours, Dutch citizens may contact the duty officer: +98 935 2111299.
Visa questions will not be answered.


Opening hours Visa Department

You need an appointment to apply for a visa. To make an appointment, please call our Visa Hotline at: 021-23660444 on Sunday-Wednesday 13:30-15:30. You may call this number also for questions regarding visa applications or check "Schengen-visa" on our website.

You are requested to cancel your appointment by sending an email to mailaddress Emailadres teh-sta@minbuza.nl. If you know you can't be at your appointment, please cancel your appointment by telephone or email to enable other applicants to use your time In that case you can request time for a new appointment on short notice. By not cancelling your appointment your new request will be treated as a new appointment and will be on first come first serve terms.

VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURE AT NETHERLANDS EMBASSY TEHRAN as per 1 January 2010

The Royal Netherlands Embassy will accept your application and will issue a visa on the following conditions:

 

  • Bring along with your completely filled out and signed visa application form, + 2 recent pictures (3,5 x 4 cm) (1) a copy of your airline reservation, (2) a copy of the medical travel insurance for the number of days to be spent in the Netherlands and Schengen area, (3) copies of your passport and former issued Schengen visa and (4) supporting documents of your visa application as mentioned on website www.mfa.nl/teh;
  • Your travel date should be within 3 months of application date;
  • The (desired) departure date should be filled out on your signed application form;
  • Your passport should be valid for three months more after your departure from Schengen area;
  • If first travel to Schengen area applicable you should present all documents mentioned on the website Externe link www.mfa.nl/teh for the particular goal of travel (family visit / business / profesional reasons / tourist);
  • Your passport will be retained at the Embassy until visa will be issued, generally after 15 days;
  • Changes in travel dates after intake of application are not acceptable, travel dates on your visa according to desired date of departure mentioned on the visa application form or according to the copy of your airline reservation;
  • Passports can be collected by an authorized person, applicants should submit their applications in person except the applicants with a special arrangement as Orange Carpet Treatement (O.C.T.).

 

Entrance procedure will be a check at door Visa Section and receipt of access number to counters:

  • Pre-check on documents in order of entrance number followed by
  • Intake application by entrance number if  first requirements are met

 

After application you will receive acknowledgement of payment (countervalue of 60 euros) of your application and can expect one of the following procedures:

1. Incomplete file

Your file was not complete and you received a paper in English/Farsi in which is stated which documents you or your referent in the Netherlands should submit within 4 weeks after application. Your file will be automatically cancelled without refund if 4 weeks have passed.

 

2. Assessment and Schengen consultation

Your application is (almost) complete, will be assessed and will be submitted to the so-called Schengen consultation, obligatory for Iranian, Afghani, Iraqi and Pakistani passportholders. This procedure will take around two weeks. You can collect your passport + issued visa after 14 days between 14.30 – 15.30 hours Su – We, 11.30 – 12.00 hours on Thursdays.

 

3. Files referred to the Dutch authorities

In case it is decided to refer your file to the Dutch authorities, you will be informed by telephone that you should not pick up your visa after 2 weeks. When the decision has been received you will be informed again on which date you can pick up your visa and which papers should be submitted.

Approval or refusal of applications for family/friends’visit can take 6 weeks to 3 months.

4. Refusal

Your application has been refused by the Embassy or the Dutch authorities and you will receive the refusal letter by registered mail on the address mentioned in your application form. In some cases refusal letters will be sent to the referent in the Netherlands, mainly when the applicant has an other nationality than the Iranian.

In case of refusal you can object to the negative decision by following the procedure explained in the attachment to the refusal letter. The objection/appeal procedure is followed up in the Netherlands and there is no involvement of the Embassy in Tehran.

·         Other Schengen countries are: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovak Republic, Slovenia spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

·         Rule is that applicants apply at the Embassy of the country where they will remain the longest period.

If you have a still valid C-visa (see visasticker) for one of these countries no application is necessary at the Dutch Embassy. (GG30.12.09)
