According to Iranian authorities, the following documents are an indication of what you may need to be able to marry under Iranian law. It is strongly recommended that you also consult with the Iranian authorities to ensure this information is still up to date.
Documents needed for marriage between Iranian nationals and foreign aliens:
- Application form (available with Iranian Ministry of Interior)
- A certificate issued by the Embassy of foreign spouse stating there is no objection against the marriage and that the Embassy recognizes the marriage.
- Proof of marital status (proof of being single). You should apply for this document at the county of last residence in Holland prior to moving to Iran. Upon receipt of this document the Embassy can make a statement to cover the period of stay in Iran.
- Documents in 2 & 3 should be legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and translated into Persian by an official translator.
- Divorce decrees, if applicable, legalised and translated.
- Certificate of accepting Islam.
- Registered statement declaring promise to pay alimony for spouse and children after divorce.
- permission of wife’s parents in writing.
- Proof of payment of IRR 10.500 to account no. 108 (Treasury General) at the Melli Bank.
- Two copies of identity documents of Iranian national (Shanas Nameh, passport)
- In case applicable, work permit of foreign national in Iran.
- One copy of the foreign national’s passport
- Picture of future husband and wife.
