Applying for a Dutch passport in Iran

Should your passport expire soon and you are temporarily staying in Holland, you may renew your passport in The Hague, with the department: Afdeling Landelijke Taken, Den Haag (Stadsdeelkantoor Centrum).

It is recommended to have your pictures taken when in Holland, since in Iran pictures hardly fall within Fotomatrix Model 2006 restrictions.

Should you be moving to Iran soon, it is recommended to renew your passport before you leave, or have pictures taken according the Fotomatrix Model 2006.  

How to apply?

You need to apply in person to renew your Dutch travel document. Your identity and nationality need to be confirmed.

To obtain a passport may take 4 weeks. An emergency passport may take up to 5 days. The applicant always needs to appear in person, also if the applicant is a minor (younger than 18 years)

 To apply, please submit the following documents:

  • Dutch (old/expired) passport
  • Iranian passport (in case of dual nationality)
  • Second proof of identification (driver’s license, identity card etc.)
  • Two color picturesaccording Fotomatrix Model 2006.

In case of first application of a minor:

  • Birth certificate (legalised and translated)
  • Marriage certificate parents (legalised and translated)
  • Consent parents/custodians and/or custody papers
  • Passport both parents

In case of lost/stolen passport:

  • Police report, or
  • Written statement in which you write how your passport got lost/stolen

In case of mutilated passport:

  • Your mutilated/damaged passport
  • Written statement in which you describe what happened to the passport

NB: The Embassy may require additional information/documents at time of the application. 

Minor applicants

To apply for their Dutch passport, minors until 18 years-old need written consent from both parents or custodians, with a valid id of the parents/custodians. Also for inclusion of child in parents’ passport, two pictures of the child are necessary.

When can I pick up my passport?

Dutch travel documents are issued in Holland. You will not be able to receive you passport right away. The minimal processing time takes in any case 2 weeks. The Embassy will inform you on when you may expect to pick up your passport at the time of the application.
